JOHN ATAMANCHUK It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, Dad and Gido , John Atamanchuk. John was born on September 18, 1934 in Fork River, MB and was raised on the family farm in Cowan, MB. As a young man of only 16, he began a 40 year long career working for the CN. In 1965 he met and married Ann Kondrat. They had a wonderful life together. In 1974 the joyous arrival of Lisa made things even better. As a family, they enjoyed skiing, camping and many adventures to BC. John also loved fishing and golfing in his spare time. He took great pride in his yard and helping Ann in the garden. John was also a very active member of the Knights of Columbus and Ukrainian Catholic Brotherhood. In 1996, John became a Gido for the first time. Christina was the apple of his eye. John was blessed again with Emma, then Noah and last but not least Hannah. He loved them all so much. He had all the time to spend taking them places like fishing on his boat, and what kid wouldn't love ice cream every day. John was good to everyone. There was very little he would not do. If anyone needed a hand, there came John ready to help. The day before his passing, John was busy as usual at the park, pushing Hannah on the swing, watching Noah go up and down the slide with a big smile on his face. John was predeceased by his parents, Basil and Margaret Atamanchuk; baby brother Michael; parents-in-law, Peter and Teenie Kondrat; and brother-in-law Walter Mazur. Celebrating the gift of John are his wife Ann; daughter Lisa and husband Matt Dolloff; grandchildren, Christina, Emma, Noah and Hannah; brother Bill and wife Rose Atamanchuk; sister-in-law Stella Mazur, along with many nephews, nieces and cousins. Funeral services for John will be held on Friday, June 19, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. from the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Resurrection in Dauphin with Father Oleg Bodnarski officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery. Prayers were held on Thursday, June 18, 2009 from the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Resurrection in Dauphin with the Rosary being led by the Knights of Columbus and the Ukrainian Catholic Brotherhood prior to the service. Pallbearers are Dennis Mazur, Frank Krysowaty, Andy Haworth, Matthew Haworth, Andrew Lukey and Joe Kruk. Sneath-Strilchuk Funeral Services (204) 638-4110 www.sneathstrilchuk.com
